VANISHING POINT Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement

Australian progressive metal band VANISHING POINT has parted ways with bassist Steve Cox. "It's nothing personal (or even musical) but just what's best for the band," Steve explained in an online post. "I've been in VANISHING POINT for a year now and a lotta stuff has happened in my personal life which has required me to remove myself from the band. I've loved being a part of VANISHING POINT, and I will continue to be a fan — you will see me up the front at all their shows! — but I'm pleased to hand the bass duties over to my good friend Adrian Alimic... who is an absolute monster of a bass player. Wait 'till you see this guy! Chris [Porcianko, guitar], Silvio [Massaro, vocals], Tom [Vucur, guitar], Jack [Lukic, former drummer] and Leonard [Kopilas, keyboards] are like brothers to me and I hold them all in such high esteem. It's been a great experience for me, and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. I truly believe that the next VANISHING POINT album will be their best; just wait 'till you hear it!"

The remaining members of VANISHING POINT have issued the following statement:

"Firstly, we would like to thank Steve for his contribution to the band for the last ten months. Unfortunately, sometimes things don't work out and Steve's decision to leave was mutual with all the guys in the band; there is no bad blood, there are no rumours, it's just a simple fact that if things don't work, then they don't work. The new guy on bass, as Steve mentioned, is Adrian. A brief rundown on the new cat in the band is that Adrian has played in Leonard's band, MANIC OPERA (hopefully the band will reunite) and HERE I DIE as well as session work for many bands live and many recordings. Put simply, Adrian's playing is a step up and you will hear how he plays on the new VANISHING POINT album when it comes out.

"OK, the new album… So far we have some album titles but nothing concrete. There will be an anouncement in the next couple of months. To be honest, with all that's been going on and the hectic schedule of the recording we have had our focus there...

"Which brings us to the album and how it is shaping up... So far, so good, the album musically is a little heavier than usual, but for VANISHING POINT fans it is a step up and musically it is melodic, bombastic, dynamic, quicker and suprise suprise... shorter than 'Embrace The Silence'. The music is completed, just doing edits at the moment on the drums and keyboards which will be finished by years end. Silvio will be in the studio the first week of January to start the vocals and will continue on until the album is finished and pending other bands recording schedules as well.

"All in all we expect the album to be completed by April. We wanted to finish it earlier but we can't and have to be respectful to other bands who are to use the studio as well, if you ask us... fuck 'em, bastards!!! Heh heh, only kidding."

VANISHING POINT's latest album, "Embrace the Silence", was released in Europe in May 2005 through Dockyard 1.
